According to the US Consulate, to date, Iberostar is refusing to work with the authorities as well. I did return 3 weeks after the crime to make the formal declaration with the local authorities since the Iberostar was refusing all requests. Therefore, as far as I am concerned, this monster still remains at large in the form of an Iberostar security guard. Iberostar forwarded all correspondence and information to their insurance company and will no longer communicate with me, nor will they provide the photo lineup to the local officials. Unfortunately, once I returned to the states, the rules all changed. It was very overwhelming and entirely against me as the victim, and I decided all I could emotionally do at the time was go home.ĭuring this time and upon my departure, Iberostar gave me every confidence they would do everything they could in apprehending the individual by sending me a photo lineup via email. They were both very helpful at the time and the consulate gave me all my options as a US citizen under Mexican Law. Upon hearing my story, she immediately contacted the US Consulate. The next morning, I asked for a female member of mgmt to be sent to my room. They denied my request and would not even write up a report, only got 3 guards to escort me back to my room.īeing on vacation alone, I only wanted to return home as soon as possible. Once in an Iberostar lobby, I asked all of security to call the police. Within minutes he grabbed me and forced me into the jungle/bushes and raped me.Īs soon as he took his hold off me, I ran through the property screaming and crying I had been raped. The security guard agreed to help me and asked me to follow him. ![]() It was very late and very dark and I was a bit frightened being out by myself. Therefore, upon returning to the lobby, I asked a security guard to point me in the right direction. On October 19, after being safely dropped off by the trolley from the disco, I returned to my room to find my key was deactivated. I feel it is now my responsibility to inform other travelers of the lack of protection this property named 'Hotel Chain of the Year 2009' provides its guests. Unfortunately Iberostar has refused both my requests to provide a lineup as well as the State Judicial Police and the Ministerios Publicos in ridding the property of this rapist. That was my only request so that I could gain closure and move on from this terrible incident without having the weight of putting other women in danger. It has been almost 2 months and I have given this property every possible opportunity to do the right thing by simply getting rid of the Iberostar security guard who assaulted me on property grounds.

![]() ![]() John Cooley, who lives across the street from the Toebbes, said he counted more than 30 FBI agents on his block on Saturday from about 2:30 p.m. An outside light was on above the door of their home, and a dog barked inside. No one answered at the Toebbe residence on Sunday afternoon in a waterside Annapolis community by the South River. He has also been assigned to a government-owned laboratory in the Pittsburgh area that officials say works on nuclear power for the U.S. government since 2012, holding a top-secret security clearance and specializing in naval nuclear propulsion, the FBI says. ![]() The Toebbes are expected to have their initial court appearances Tuesday in Martinsburg, West Virginia. The complaint alleges violations of the Atomic Energy Act, which restricts the disclosure of information related to atomic weapons or nuclear materials. In that instance, prosecutors say, he concealed in a chewing gum package a memory card that contained schematic designs for the Virginia-class submarine. The FBI conducted similar dead-drop exchanges over the next several months, including one in August in eastern Virginia for which Toebbe was paid roughly $70,000. The memory card also included a typed message that said, in part: “I hope your experts are very happy with the sample provided and I understand the importance of a small exchange to grow our trust.” The Justice Department describes those submarines as “cruise missile fast-attack submarines, which incorporate the latest in stealth, intelligence gathering, and weapons systems technology.” The records on the memory card included design elements and performance characteristics of Virginia-class submarine reactors. The FBI recovered a blue memory card wrapped in plastic and placed between two slices of bread on a half of a peanut butter sandwich, court documents say. Weeks later, federal agents watched as the Toebbes arrived at an agreed-upon location in West Virginia for the exchange, with Diana Toebbe appearing to serve as a lookout for her husband during a dead-drop operation for which the FBI paid $20,000. In any event, the FBI used Toebbe’s outreach as the launching pad for a monthslong undercover operation in which an agent posing as a representative of a foreign contact made contact with Toebbe and agreed to pay thousands of dollars in cryptocurrency for the information that Toebbe was offering.Īfter weeks of back and forth over email, the undercover agent in June sent Toebbe about $10,000 in cryptocurrency, describing it as a sign of good faith and trust, the FBI says. The court documents don’t explain how the FBI came to receive the package or from whom. That package, which had a return address in Pittsburgh, was obtained by the FBI last December through its legal attache office in the unspecified foreign country. I believe this information will be of great value to your nation. Please forward this letter to your military intelligence agency. The FBI says the scheme began in April 2020 when Jonathan Toebbe sent a package of Navy documents to a foreign government and wrote that he was interested in selling to that country operations manuals, performance reports and other sensitive information.Īuthorities say he also provided instructions for how to conduct the furtive relationship, with a letter that said: “I apologize for this poor translation into your language. It wasn’t immediately clear whether the Toebbes, who are from Annapolis, Maryland, have lawyers. |
